NBCUniversal is allegedly putting $250 million in BuzzFeed at a $1.5 billion valuation, as indicated by Re/code’s Kara Swisher and Peter Kafka.
BuzzFeed declined to remark on the report.
Most as of late, BuzzFeed raised a $50 million Series E round the previous summer, drove by Andreessen Horowitz’s Chris Dixon. The Series E capital implantation esteemed BuzzFeed at $850 million at the time.
BuzzFeed made more than $100 million in income in 2014.
Furthermore, NBCUniversal is supposedly putting resources into Vox Media at a $850 million valuation.
Re/code reports NBCUniversal may be attempting to put resources into both media organizations to “take advantage of Millennial crowds,” cordcutters who may not be paying consideration on NBC’s TV content any longer.
A week ago, The Wall Street Journal reported that NBCUniversal was in preparatory chats with BuzzFeed, among other media properties including Vice Media and Business Insider, to take value in these organizations or get them.
